World's biggest physics tool debuts in Europe
A massive particle accelerator that’s meant to re-create what the universe was like shortly after the Big Bang will begin operating in Europe today after years of expensive construction and design.
Engineers will send protons through the $6 billion Large Hadron Collider, a 17-mile, ring-shaped tunnel 300 feet beneath the ground on the border of Switzerland and France.
When it’s fully operational, the collider will be capable of producing 1 billion particle collisions per second – mash-ups that will be recorded and analyzed by high-speed computers and distributed around the world.
...and on a side note...there is a possibility it could generate a blackhole and the earth would get turned inside-out!...;)

Another clutch pickup for the Halos
I thought picking up Torii Hunter was the icing on the cake this year. Then the Halos go out and pickup switch-hitting stud, Mark Teixeira. I can't think of another team that can stand up to the firepower that the Angels will be wielding for the second half of the season. I hope that this sweep of the Red Sux in Boston doesn't mean that we peak to early as we need to be hot going into the post season. One cool stat to note is that the Halos have NEVER had this big of a division lead in their history...

The Must-See Summer Movie...
The Dark Knight is gonna be great. The early reviews have this being an Oscar worthy picture. The Academy would never give out an award to a "comic book" movie, but this is breaking through that stereotypical genre, with an A-List cast of actors and well written and performed dialogue and plot. I list Batman Begins as one of my top favorite 3 movies of all time, so you can expect I am really geeked to see this. I heard it is close to 3 hours long, and even at the end of it, you want more. Rarely, movies live up to the hype, but I'm sure this one will.

And so it ends...
The Lakers postseason is over. Actually, it ended Game 1 of the NBA Finals. That game showed that we didn't stand a chance against a hungrier, tougher, more disciplined team. I won't say their name because we don't mention those leprechauns on this blog. As a lifelong Laker fan, it is a hard pill to swallow. So hard in fact, that I refused to watch the last five minutes of the fourth quarter. Usually I punish myself and re-watch the games later at night, win OR lose. There is nothing worse than seeing the most hated rival celebrate a world championship. Hopefully the squad takes some lessons from this experience and we get to do it all over again next year. Ethan becomes a Wolf
Ethan graduated from a Tiger Cub to a Wolf Cub at the Boy Scout graduation at O'neill Park. Part of the ceremony is to roar like a Tiger and show that you are old enough to move on to Wolf. The normally timid Ethan, didn't pass up the chance to show his stripes. He is on the far left. Congrats Buddy!
