Happy 13th Birthday Tay!!!

It's hard to believe that our "baby" is already 13 years old. The time has gone by so quickly, and we have so many special memories of you growing up and becoming such a wonderful young lady.
Taylah, you have exceeded all of our expectations, and have bestowed on us a overwhelming sense of pride, as your parents.
Keep being the person you are, and don't change a single thing. We expect big things from you in the future and we will be there with you every step of the way...
HAPPY BIRTHDAY BOO-BAH!!

Snow Play at Big Bear Mountain

We've been enjoying the recent snow to hit Socal. Two consecutive trips to the local mountains have been fun for the kids who rarely get to experience such a thing. The photo above is all of us in front of a frozen Lake Big Bear. Click on the picture above to watch a video of us inner tubing down a hill...

WWTW

What's with this weather? One day I'm cruising around the house in b-ball shorts, the next night I'm making dinner in my snow jacket. I don't get it, typically in SoCal it's very temperate. You can feel ok about leaving the house in whatever you were wearing, none of this "layering" nonsense. Oh well, at least my lawn is getting watered and my car is getting washed...

Kingda Ka Front Row Video

Ethan bought a book from the bookstore labeled The worlds top 10 roller coasters. This one is number one on the list. It launches you to 128 mph in 3.5 seconds and sends you 45 stories straight up in the air and then straight down. This things looks awesome!

And now, the good news...

The Los Angeles Lakers bolstered their banged-up frontline Friday with a key acquisition -- 7-footer Pau Gasol!
The Lakers gave up Kwame Brown, rookie Javaris Crittenton and two first-round draft picks for Gasol. The Spaniard is certain to help a Lakers team reeling from recent injuries to inside players, including blossoming center Andrew Bynum (see Post below).
As a frustrated Laker fan the past couple of years, this trade is just what the doctor ordered! I can't wait to see what the future holds for us.

Bynum down, but not out

After MRI tests and an examination by team doctor Steve Lombardo of the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Group earlier today, it has been determined that Lakers center Andrew Bynum suffered a subluxation of the patella and a bone bruise of his left knee in last night’s game. Bynum is expected to be out a minimum of eight weeks. Bynum is expected to make a full recovery.

This is obviously a huge blow to my squad, but it just means that my main man, Ronnie Turiaf, is gonna have to step up and help lead this team because we sure as hell can't rely on Kwame. Ronnie is probably my favorite Laker, so its gonna be fun watching him get more PT.
Get well soon, Drew...

Carl Karcher 1917-2008

A running joke around my house, is how I would prefer a Western Bacon Cheeseburger over a home-cooked meal. In many cases, that is true. I'm not a big fan of fast food, but Carls Jr. is the exception. The founder of Carl's Jr. just passed away at age 90, and I would like to honor him. This story is a little personal in that my Dad actually knew Mr. Karcher. He used to frequent my Dad's store and order suits from him when he had his shop in Anaheim. He was a very down-to-earth man, who despite his personal success, always seemed to make time for his customers. He can be credited with the creation of what I believe to be the best tasting charbroiled hamburgers in the game.
In my opinion, the Carl's Jr. menu puts the competition to shame.

We have a Wii

Thanks to Nana, Ethan got a really great gift for Christmas. Ethan was asked which gaming console he wanted, PS3, Xbox 360 or the Nintendo Wii and to my surprise, Ethan chose a Wii.
I wasn't sure how I felt about that choice. I knew I would be putting in some serious work with whatever console he got. Let's just say he made the right choice because the Wii rocks!
Somehow the most sought-after gift this year ended up under our tree, and you should have seen Ethan's reaction when he opened it....priceless (I'll post it on this site as soon as I get some time).
I have to remember to stretch before playing because I'm already suffering from "tennis elbow" ;-)

KITT Returns... Don't Hassle the Hoff!

Last week, NBC unveiled an all-new, controversial KITT, which is set to star in the made-for-TV Knight Rider movie in February. Based on the still-to-be-released Ford Mustang Shelby GT500KR

Popular Mechanics has a funny specs comparison between the OG KITT and the new KITT. I wonder if the new ride comes equipped with an in-dash breathalyzer?
